Dordrechts Museum

The Dordrechts Museum in Dordrecht is one of the oldest museums in the Netherlands.  The collection comprises more than six centuries of Dutch painting, from masters from the Golden Era to contemporary art. Besides the permanent collection the Dordrechts Museum always has a number of temporary high profile exhibitions on show.

The Van Gijn House

In the Van Gijn House in Dordrecht you find out how a family of means and their staff lived and worked around 1900. Here time has stood still for over a century. The table has been laid according to etiquette rules, all set for the guests to arrive and the ingredients for the evening meal are waiting on the kitchen table. In the Van Gijn House it is as if at any moment the former owners may return to what once was their home.

 Hof van Nederland

Museum Het Hof van Nederland is right at the spot where in 1572 , during the first Assembly of the Free States the foundation was laid for a free and independent Dutch Republic. This historic assembly is the centre of attention in the museum, however one also learns about the story of Dordrecht being the oldest city of Holland and our continuous fight against water, an unmistakably important element from Dutch history.

Each of these three museums is within a ten-minute walk from the Dordrecht Merwekade Stop.
